: The included breakfast was probably amazing (did that come off sarcastic?), but it was not offered (due to COVID, of course, per the little handwritten note stuck to the insect ridden checkin window). I have stayed at plenty of hotels since COVID. A pot of coffee, maybe some fruit and a packaged store bought muffin or individually packaged cereals would have sufficed (as all of the others have provided). There was ice in the ice machine and there was a soda machine, though I didnt use it, so cannot attest to it having anything in it. There is NOTHING near this location with the exception of a beautiful park across the street. No gas station, no restaurant, no 7-11. If you want a cup of coffee, a snack or a beer, you better bring them with you - which thankfully, I did.
: Everything. Had to check in and do all transactions at the window as the lobby was locked. It was COVERED with some sort of flying insects, as was my car and everything else in between. I get it - were in Florida - but a 5 gal bug spray is under 10 bucks at Dollar General - to at least make the MANDATORY window approachable! Maybe go all in and hire a company to spray the lawn and common areas so the outside of the building is at least tolerable. The bugs were out of control. The microwave sparked after 5-7 seconds (and appeared to have already caught fire - see photos). The bath mat was FILTHY with boot prints or something (photo). Likely stained, but still disgusting. Thankfully, I had no intention of using the shower, but was going to put the mat on the floor in front of the sink. No thanks. The inside of the door was FILTHY with fingerprints and dirt - thankfully I had a container of Lysol wipes with me. Switch plate in the bath was broken and the switch was exposed. Not a big deal ... but cmon ... theyre a quarter. Replace it. The one usable chair was covered in mold (or something. I didnt investigate - but it was nasty) - and there was ONE usable outlet (aside from GFI at bathroom sink). It was a double outlet, but the only available light source (with exception to the bath/vanity light) was plugged in, leaving one outlet. I had a phone, an Ipad and a heating pad. (Upon moving the king sized mattress, I did locate another EXPOSED outlet ... must be a shortage of switch plate covers in Lakeland). Also, kinda on my part, but... I chose this location because they allowed pets. I was in Lakeland for my 3.5 lb chihuahua to undergo surgery at the SPCA. I didnt specify that I had a dog when I booked (because I wasnt asked). The manager/owner chased me out to the small grassy area the morning after checkin to direct me back to the office because I needed to pay $20 for my ill, 3 lb pet. Whatever. I went and paid the 20 bucks that afternoon.
